Tonight is for expectations and preparations. The kids are easing back into their school routines. We laid out our clothes, packed our bags, and made plans for the big return. I attempted to keep them from teetering over from preparedness to panic/Sunday blues.

It’s how I am approaching December after NaNoWriMo.

After writing today, I spent an hour planning out my writing schedule for December, with an eye towards January and February as well. I feel in control of my writing-as-career for the first time, and the feeling is the same I got when I purchased all my back-to-school materials as a child. Notebooks are uncreased, pens are ready to go, folders organized.

Tomorrow is the end of NaNoWriMo, and I’ve already “won” in ways I hadn’t imagined.
