Exercise in some capacity for at least 15 minutes 15 days a month. Finally lost those extra pounds from the IV, and 1.2 more. I have about 5 to go until I’m at the high end of my pre-pregnancy weight. It’s all around my belly. I’m still sore from the hematoma, so I’m going easy on myself. I exercised 3 days this week: lifted weights for my arms and shoulders, ab work, and then squats and lunges for the butt n’ thighs. I work these muscle groups to exhaustion and I’m starting to see some definition in these areas. I will never be a sylph-figured gal, but I’d like to feel good about being nekkid or in a bathing suit. I still have a few articles of clothing that don’t fit me around the midsection, but overall, I’m doing pretty well for almost 13 weeks post-partum.
Write here every day for at least 5 minutes and for at least 2 minutes in my “Line a Day” 5 year journal. Going strong. I have started looking back at the last six months. Even though the days often crawl by, the year is flying. I can see how far we’ve come as a family in 6 months. (and how far I’ve come!)
Have something I write/create be shared in a public space (à la performance, someone else publishing it, etc) by end of year. Still waiting to hear back from the music director, who will be driving this production to the stage. It is hard to wait, to have it out of my hands. However, I will continue to edit and tweak until it either goes to preproduction or I’m told it’s not going up.
Re-learn the piano, playing at least 5 times a week (emphasis on playing) Well, big news. I asked for and will get a BANJO and lessons for my 40th birthday. No joke. I cannot wait.
Make two new gal pals and/or strengthen relationship with 2 women I already know so I can consider us good friends and not just acquaintances. Still struggling with this. Was asked to join a knitting group of mamas from the boys’ preschool. I don’t knit. I like 2 of the 3 mamas who are regulars. We’ll see how that goes on Tuesday.
Figure out how to make turning 40 fabulous. Fabulous 40 will depend on these other factors. Right now, with the heat and the kids misbehaving this week, I feel about 350.
Take one picture a day for the entire year. I love doing this. Picked it up again as I resumed blogging…it’s important to me to document the regular and extraordinary moments in our family. We didn’t have this growing up. We would document occasional big events, but if there was, say, a family gathering at Thanksgiving, we took a lot of pictures of the table but not of the people. I don’t want to make that mistake. I look back at the family photos and can document the history of the cars we had growing up. I also have hazy childhood memories of a lot of things; I honestly think photos would have helped me have more vivid memories. Even if they don’t, they’d sure be fun.
